This Year’s Super Bowl Commercials Were All About the Love…

It seemed that this years Super Bowl commercials were all about delivering the warm fuzzies to  their viewers. The commercials were heavy on sentimentality and tugging of the heart strings. We are betting that even the most hardened of audiences can’t deny they felt a little nostalgic. Here are our top five picks for the most heartwarming Super Bowl commercials of 2014.

  • Budweiser Super Bowl XLVIII Commercial- “Puppy Love”

The highlight of this year’s commercials had to be Budweiser’s touching commercial that focused on the special friendship between a puppy and the Clydesdales. The puppy just happened to be a yellow lab, the 2013 top ranking dog breed. The song in the background, Passenger’s “Let Her Go” is in the top ten on the Billboard charts. This commercial pulled out all the stops with lots of cuteness and awe factor! The ad went viral on social media before it even hit  television.

“Puppy Love”

  • Budweiser Super Bowl XLVIII Commercial- “ A Hero’s Welcome”

Get the tissues out for this one! This commercial focuses on  Blackhawk helicopter pilot  Lt. Charles Nadd’s homecoming. Budweiser threw an  unforgettable, surprise tickertape parade for the soldier. The message of thanks to our ‘heroes” was made  loud and clear by the beer company.

“A Hero’s Welcome”

  • 2015 Hyundai Genesis Big Game Ad “Dad’s Sixth Sense”

This one plays on the powerful emotion of protecting your children from danger and the many close calls that they will confront growing up. It features all the times that the dad saves the day as the child is growing up. When the newly driving son gets distracted on the road the Hyundai Genesis saves the day with its auto emergency braking system. There is plenty of nostalgia and reminiscing  of a child growing up in this ad and it delivered a  clear message.

“Dad’s Sixth Sense”

  • Cheerios 2014 Game Day Ad “Gracie”

This adorably cute commercial is all about family love. The ad is a continuation of Cheerios interracial family ad campaign featuring a super cute little girl named Gracie. The Dad uses Cheerios to tell his daughter that she is going to be getting a new baby brother. The smart little girl uses the opportunity to bargain with her dad for a new puppy. Now go buy some Cheerios!

“Gracie”

  • Coco Cola Super Bowl 2014 Commercial “America The Beautiful”

This commercial asserts that America is beautiful. It is set to the music of “America the Beautiful” sung in seven different languages celebrating it’s diversity . The music and the voices are hauntingly beautiful. It celebrated all the many different skin colors, lifestyles and nationalities of Americans. The commercial was not without controversy though as some people didn’t like it because they thought it should only be sung in English.

This year’s Super Bowl ads were much more family friendly than in past years. Some might even say they were downright  boring. Did you enjoy the sentimental commercials this year or do you prefer the racier, more controversial commercials of past years? Share your thoughts with us!

Last night was the NY Islanders Playoff Push Viewing Party at The Paramount in Huntington. The venue was packed with fans dressed in their best blue and orange. The ticket sales were limited, so only the most loyal Islander fans were in attendance. Everyone watched the mega screen with anticipation of the final score. Although the Islanders had already qualified for the playoffs, last nights game determined their seeding.

As the New York Islanders battled the Philadelphia Flyers, the Bud Light was flowing! Celebrity guest appearances made the night exciting; Islander’s alumni, Islander’s prospects and members of the Islanders Ice Girls were all there in celebration. Alumni royalty, Clark Gillies and Mike Bossy, both spoke to the crowd of fans with encouraging words for the upcoming playoffs. Even though the Islanders were not able to defeat the Flyers, a good time was had by all and we are looking forward to the playoffs!
